The Oceanside Generals scored first in Game five for the fourth time in a row and swept the last four games of the Championship series, defeating the past Champion Victoria Cougars 6-5, Thursday night in Victoria. The Generals opened the scoring on the power play(2-5) before the four minute mark, Kyle Bixby, with Peter Funnell, and Taylor Morgan assisting. Ocenside went up by two. three minutes after, Chad Plouffe letting one go from the point, from Morgan again. Victoria cut the deficit in half, on the power play,(1-3)before the end of one. The Gens opened the scoring in the second as well, when Matt Potter found the net behind Starter Max Pelzner, from Doug Hulme and Brad Knapp, all twenty year old in their last year, but Victoria cut that lead to one, shortly after. The Gens scored two more in the period to make it 5-2, with their second power play marker on David Williams first gaol on the night. Peter Funnell and Sam Kobe assisted, and then, Kyle Bixby scored his second of the game unassited on a takeaway in the offensive zone. Victoria would score the next two to make it 5-4, when David Williams, scored the winner, twenty one seconds after Victoria scored their forth of the game. Victoria wasn't done yeat as they came within one, late in the game on the penalty kill. The last five minutes were tense for both clubs, but even with the goaltender on the bench for the extra man, Victoria didn't get much to the net. The hundred or so Oceanside fans were exhuberant most of the night as their team never trailed, showing their devotion to their team, and appreciated by the Team as well.
